The following is our company policy:
It is the policy of this company to assure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, color, religion, national origin, disability, age or sex. Such action shall include: employment upgrading, demotion or transfer, recruitment or recruitment advertising, layoff or termination, rates of pay or other forms of compensation, and selection for training, including apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, and/or on-the-job- training.

 

We also encourage the use of available training programs and will be happy to advise upon what programs are available, the entrance requirement for each, as well as assisting in applying for or entering such programs. Any supervisor will be glad to have you contact him/her.

Health & Safety Policy

It is our goal to provide a safe work environment for not only our employees, but also inspectors, traveling public and any other person associated with our business. With this goal in mind we are establishing the following policy for current and future employees of Flat Line Inc.
 

Management

David Whitaker will ensure that all employees have access to the Health and Safety Policy. Each employee will be given a copy of the general policy on the commencement of his or her employment. He will also be responsible for implementing all safety protocol, to see that all new employees are educated to this safety policy, and as well as train them properly for flagging and traffic control plans especially if the employee will be assuming any responsibility for traffic control. David & appointed supervisors make frequent safety inspections of the equipment & operations of Flat Line Inc. They are also going to ensure that Flat Line Inc.:


• Shows the commitment of our company management and workers to health and safety
• Aims to remove or reduce the risks to the health, safety and welfare of all workers, contractors and visitors, and anyone else who may be affected by our business operations
• Aims to ensure all work activities are done safely to maintain a safe working environment
• Will inform, instruct, train and place supervision that is reasonably necessary to ensure that each worker is safe from injury and risks to health
• Commits to consult and co-operate with workers in all matters relating to health and safety in the workplace
• Commits to continually improve our performance through effective safety management.
• Will keep up and continually look through flagger trainings & TMA certifications

 

Workers
Each worker has an obligation to:
• Comply with safe work practices, with the intent of avoiding injury to themselves and others and damage to trucks and equipment.
• Observe all Traffic Control Plans and warnings at all times
• Comply with any direction given by management for health and safety
• Report all accidents and incidents on the job immediately, no matter how trivial
• If you spot any possible hazardous situation report it to your supervisor immediately.
• In case of sickness or injury, no matter how slight, report at once to your supervisor. In no case should an employee treat his own or someone else's injuries. In case of any accident resulting in a severe injury, the employee is not to be moved until medical attention has been given by authorized personnel.
• Never distract the attention of another employee, as you might cause him or her to be injured. If necessary to get the attention of another employee, wait until it can be done safely.
• Where required, you must wear protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel toe boots(Self provided). Safety vests & hard hats are provided by Flat Line Inc.
• Do not operate machines or equipment until you have been properly instructed and authorized to do so by your supervisor.
• Shut down your machine before cleaning, repairing, or leaving.
• Observe smoking regulations.
• Drink plenty of water, and eat a health friendly diet while and throughout the working season.
• Know its prohibited to be under possession/influence of any illegal drug, alcohol or prescribed medication without a prescription while performing work for Flat Line Inc.

 

An employee with an undesirable driving record will subject to termination or evaluation which may or may not include termination or demotion of position.


Undesirable Driving Records include:
• If an employee has more than (3) moving violations and/or accidents in the most recent 3 years or has more than (2) moving violations and /or accidents in the most recent years or has had any major convictions which include:
• Driving while intoxicated or under the influence (within the last year & a half)
• Leaving the scene of an accident
• Careless or reckless driving violations
• Drivers with a suspended/revoked license
• Attempting to elude a police officer
• Homicide or assault through use of motor vehicle
